Marie Lavoie is Associate Professor at Glendon College (York University, Toronto) in the Economics Department and in the School of Public and International Affairs. She has been visiting professor in the Graduate School of International Development (GSID) of Nagoya University (Japan) and in the Industrial Engineering Department at Ăcole Polytechnique in MontrĂ©al. She also held a position in the Industrial Relations Department at the UniversitĂ© Laval in QuĂ©bec. She joined York University after many years in the Canadian federal and QuĂ©bec governments, including in the Economic Council of Canada, Human Resources Development Canada, as well as the Conseil de la science et de la technologie in QuĂ©bec. Lavoie received a Jean-Charles Bonenfant parliamentary internship in the AssemblĂ©e Nationale du QuĂ©bec. She worked with the OECD to develop its human capital, social capital and economic growth agenda. Lavoie has BA and MA degrees from the UniversitĂ© Laval, and MSc and DPhil degrees from the University of Sussex in the UK.
